Chomping at the Bit....

I know you all desperately want to see photos that I took during my recent road trip....however, you're going to have to wait. I have something special currently in the works instead of my usual photo posting. How long is it going to take? That's a good question. You may have to wait until next week. We Have Returned!

So we're back!! We've got stories to share, photos to post and videos to use as blackmail (if they were to fall into the wrong hands....hmmmmmmmm.)! We drove 16 hrs straight from Louisville, KY this morning so I'm pretty beat. I'll post what I have in the coming week (along with a special movie I'm putting together). Until then, here's some highlights of our trip to be explained a bit more fully in the near future:

Off to Indiana....

Tomorrow, Tony Tyrant and I are embarking on a road trip to Indiana so we can race at the Race2Replace held at Indiana Motorspeedway. Check out our list of must-have-items:

If I can get to a computer, I'll try and post some updates from the road. Otherwise, you'll just have to fantasize about what we're doing with the hamster suits til I get back. Oh yeah, if you don't hear from me in person, on the phone or the internet by Wednesday of next week, grab a pair of my dirty cycling shorts or socks, get some bloodhounds and send them into the eastern border of Indiana. My sources tell me that the cornfields stretch further than the eye can see......

Night Mission II

A few months ago, Tony T and I went on a night mission and hit up various spots in central and southern CT. The 4 rolls I shot turned out like shit, so we hit up some of the spots again a couple weeks later. Here's the proof!

Yes I work in a bike shop. Yes I have an opinion about the whole Floyd Landis doping scandal. But just because I work in a bike shop, and I have my opinions about Landis, doesn't mean that you (customers) should engage me and ask what that opinion is. I like to keep my opinions to myself. I find that it's a waste of my time and energy to share an opinion about something only to have you argue against said opinion. It's kind of like discussing politics @ your job or at a party. You just don't do it! Eventually, someone ends up really pissed off, and for what? So you can flex your ego and be 'right'? I don't buy into all that.
Oh yeah, if you're some random person who doesn't follow cycling (or didn't watch the Tour cause "It's going to be so boring without Lance this year."), please excuse yourself and shut the fuck up! Just because the guy who won happens to be an American, doesn't entitle you to whine, bitch and moan. If he was French, Spanish, Italian, etc, you wouldn't give a fuck! How many of you knew who he was prior to his performance in Stage 17? I thought so. How many of you can name any of the other riders out of the 32 that were DQ'd just prior to the Tour? mhm. Thought so. And if you're one of the morons who thinks that he was feigning exhaustion "like Lance did", you're dumber than you look! You don't fake something and lose 10mins of time! He fucking cracked! And if a few shots of JD before a race gets you into that kind of shape to make up 10mins, then myself and every other amature racer/messenger would fucking RAGE during every alleycat that we race in!
Argh! That's enough ranting for now. Stop asking me what I think!

In The Woods....

A few weeks ago I went and shot some photos of my friend Mike Stock as he hucked himself off big stuff in the woods. Here's the proof:


-Mike makes big drops like this look easy. 'They're not that big', according to him.


-A cool, natural wallride with a poorly angled flash.


-I think this photo really shows how comfortable Mike is dropping these stunts. He had time to look at me and make a funny face as he launched off this bridge. I also think it's a great portrait for that reason.

Kings Of New England....

Three days of riding and raging that made up the Kings Of New England race took place this past weekend. Here's my recap:

Friday night was the Hartford Alleycat sponsored by The Hartford Bike Messenger Association. About 30 some-odd racers showed up, raced around the city, wreaked some havoc and had a great time. There were some great prizes as well that consisted of some Baileyworks bags amongst other cool stuff. I raced with Tony Tyrant and because of our general lack of knowledge about the city, we got our asses kicked! But alleycats aren't about winning (right?).....

Saturday was the stage race from Hartford to New Haven. We left Hartford around 1pm and rolled a neutral start to Maple. Once we hit that, it was on! I attacked early on the Berlin Tnpk to see who would follow and 6 came with me. Broke a spoke just 2mi before the preem sprint. 2 others flatted but we kept on. Won the sprint preem for $50 towards a sitting @ Turnpike Tattoo with Shawn Hebrank, and the 4 of us kept on (2 fixed, 2 geared). When we got to Wallingford, one other fixed racer dropped off (I know he's from Bristol, but I'm horrible with names! Many apologies!). Much respect for hanging with us for that long. Then NYC Dan, myself and Doug kept a super tight paceline all the way into New Haven. We averaged around 20mph but slowed down as we got into the city because we were all really starting to feel the effects of exhaustion. As we got the finish, the other rider and I missed the turn by about 2 blocks, and Dan went on to win! Congrats, respect and much love for riding with us! I was super impressed by his ability to keep up with us on his track bike especially when we were coasting downhill at 30mph!

Sunday was the New Haven Alleycat sponsored by Ghettodrome Productions. With temps in the 90's, high humidity, relatively no shade, 2 manifests, and random clues after the manifests, I wound up with mild heat exhaustion and packed it in before I got seriously sick after the first manifest. Highlights of my day include, skitching off a redneck's pride and joy pick-up truck and then being threatened with getting run-over after he saw me, tales of NYC Dan, Shane and TJ (Hartford) riding on 95 for an exit, then jumping a barrier with bikes to get on the road they needed, and laying in the shade, trying not to puke for about 30 mins then drinking about a gallon of water in 15 mins.

A great time was had by all. Congrats to NYC Dan who won the race overall, thanks to Uva, Chris, Goo, and Darren for throwing kick ass races! Thanks also to all the sponsors for such great prizes (especially Matt from Devil's Gear who put up a Bareknuckle track frame for 1st!!). My personal thanks goes out to Tony T and Jason for getting me to Hartford, shooting some great photos and manning my personal support vehicle, NYC Dan and Doug for the sweet paceline action Saturday (couldn't have done it without you guys!) and Melissa for keeping me from sleeping on a park bench, feeding me and driving me home Sunday (I owe you big!). Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next race!

Busy as hell!

I've got sooo much to do in the next 3 days....picking up some screen printing supplies tomorrow, then going to get my slides (and pay out more $), gonna shoot with Jeff, then prep my screens. Work on Friday, go to the UD show in the evening, head back home and screen up the shirts....whew! And all the little shit in between. It never stops!

Four hours of riding, three rolls of film and only 2 half-way decent shots to show for it.....what a fucking let-down.

Slayer!

The Slayer show was awesome! Met up with Metal Steve and his buddy, Steve. Grabbed some sandwiches, drinks, cosmic brownies and headed up to Lowell, MA. We arrived just in time to check out Mastodon who were AMAZING! Got to hear 2 new songs that are just incredible! Slayer was great too! People watched, told (and heard) some great stories, laughed alot, listened to some good metal...a successful evening if there ever was one. Thanks to Metal Steve for driving and hooking me up with some new music (as he is prone to do everytime we hang out!).

We've finally done it!

So Tony T and I have been talking about this for a while now and we finally got off of our asses and did it. We've been getting tired of riding the same spots here in town (don't get me wrong, I love to ride and figuring out new, creative stuff @ the same spots is cool and all) so we've been discussing getting out and taking mini-road trips to other spots. So I set out to meet the crew @ the North End Banks when I get a call from Tyrant saying it's a bust. We met up, talked with a couple of random, cool urban big-wheelers that happend across us, and set out with no preplanned spots, just a bunch of ideas. We wound up a ways out from home and found/rode/shot some cool stuff. Three rolls of film, two bottles of water, three hostess cake products, 1 slurpie, 1 arizona green tea and four hours later (on top of a 10 hour work-day for myself), we found ourselves back in town and ready to pass out. Photos will follow of our adventures along with some stories I'm sure. We're looking forward to a bunch more of these throughout the summer so stay tuned.
